About the Role
Skill Stand In is looking for experienced economists with a public policy background to improve how AI understands and reasons about economic policy.
Your expertise will shape the quality of AI-generated analysis on regulation, welfare, and public programs. This is a remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge is the product.
What You’ll Do
- Review AI-generated economic policy questions, scenarios, and explanations used in AI training.
- Assess the accuracy and rigor of economic reasoning related to regulation, welfare programs, and public policy tradeoffs.
- Validate conclusions, check assumptions, and flag flawed or incomplete reasoning.
- Provide structured, detailed feedback that improves the clarity, depth, and real-world relevance of AI outputs.
- Score AI work against practitioner standards and explain banding decisions.
- Work independently and asynchronously — on your schedule, at your pace.
What We’re Looking For
- Professional experience as an economist with a public policy background.
- Applied economics expertise covering regulation, welfare, public programs, or related policy analysis.
- Ability to evaluate economic arguments for rigor, evidence, and real-world feasibility.
- Graduate training in economics, public policy, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Strong written communication and comfort explaining tradeoffs to a non-specialist reader.
- Reliable availability for hourly, task-based remote work.
